Verification

Online verification provides a quick way to access your registration number and date of registration. After retrieving your registration information online, you have the option to print an official letter of verification from Selective Service System.

Online verification of Selective Service registration requires a social security number and is only available for men born on or after January 1, 1960.

Update Your Registration

After you register and until January 1 of the year you turn 26, you are required to update your registration information on file with the agency within 10 days.

Please update your information if:

  • Your home address changes
  • Your name, birthdate, and/or address on file is misspelled
  • You legally changed your name

Records for men born prior to 1960 are maintained by the National Archives & Records Administration. To obtain these records, complete the Record Request Form and email to stl.archives@nara.gov or mail to the address below.

Men Born from March 29, 1957 to December 31, 1959

These men were never required to register with Selective Service System because the registration program was not in operation at the time they turned 18.
