Compliance Rates and Ranking

TODAY, Selective Service is only registering men at age 18, and accepts registrations up until their 26th birthday. Thus, once a man turns 26 years old, it is too late to register.

IF THERE WAS A DRAFT MOBILIZATION UNDERWAY, the first to be called, in a sequence determined by the lottery, will be men whose 20th birthday falls during that year, followed, if needed, by those aged 21, 22, 23, 24 and 25. 18-year-olds and those turning 19 would be the last groups to be drafted.

CHARTS COMPARISON:  The left chart below is provided showing the compliance rate by state for the age group of men turning 20 years old in this current calendar year. The right chart depicts the compliance rates by state from the previous calendar year for comparison.
